Wearing Your Ring, Tips for Enjoying Your Jewelry While Avoiding Damage

SLEEPING - Properly caring for your jewelry when you sleep is important to ensure that it stays in good condition for years to come. To properly care for your jewelry while you sleep, it's a good idea to remove it before going to bed. If you wear long necklaces or bracelets to bed, they can easily get tangled in your hair or caught on your sheets or pillowcase. This can cause the jewelry to become stretched or broken, or can even result in damage to your hair or skin.

Rings and other pieces of jewelry that are prone to bending or warping can become misshapen if they're caught on your sheets or other bedding. This can cause the jewelry to become uncomfortable to wear or to lose its original shape. If you wear delicate or fragile jewelry to bed, it can easily become scratched or chipped if it comes into contact with hard surfaces such as your headboard or nightstand.

The best practice for keeping your jewelry in prestein condition to help prevent these types of damages is to remove all jewelry before going to bed and to store it in a safe place.

COOKING & BAKING
 - Cooking and baking can be fun and rewarding activities, but they can also be tough on your jewelry. To help protect your jewelry while you're in the kitchen, remove rings and other delicate jewelry. It's a good idea to remove rings and other delicate pieces of jewelry before you start cooking or baking. This will help prevent them from getting damaged or covered in food or other ingredients.

Protect your hands if you can't or don't want to remove your rings, consider wearing gloves or using a silicone ring protector to keep your jewelry safe.Use utensils with caution, knives, skewers, and other sharp utensils can easily scratch or damage delicate jewelry.

Be extra careful when using these tools, and try to handle them away from your jewelry as much as possible. Avoid heat while cooking and removing food from the oven. Some types of metal and gemstones can be sensitive to heat. To prevent damage, avoid exposing your jewelry to high temperatures, such as those found in ovens or on the stovetop.

GYM - Going to the gym can be a great way to stay fit and healthy, but it can also be tough on your jewelry. First, it's a good idea to remove rings and other delicate pieces of jewelry before you start your workout. This will help prevent them from getting damaged or lost while you're exercising. If you have long hair, it's also a good idea to tie it back to keep it out of the way and away from your jewelry.

It is important to stay cautious when using weights and other gym equipment. Rings and other jewelry can easily get scratched or damaged when you're lifting weights or using machines. It's a good idea to handle these items carefully and to keep your jewelry away from them as much as possible to reduce the risk of accidental damage.

Sweat can be tough on jewelry and can cause it to become damaged or discolored over time. Some types of metal, such as sterling silver and copper, are prone to corrosion when exposed to moisture. If you wear jewelry made of these metals while sweating, it can cause the metal to become tarnished or discolored.

Many gemstones, such as pearls and opals, are sensitive to moisture and can become damaged when exposed to sweat. Sweat can also cause certain types of gemstones, such as diamonds, to become loose in their settings.

To help prevent damage to your jewelry from sweat, it's a good idea to remove your jewelry before working out or participating in activities that cause you to sweat heavily. If you can't or don't want to remove your jewelry, consider wearing items made of materials that are resistant to corrosion, such as stainless steel or platinum.

HAND SANITIZER - Applying hand sanitizer is an effective way to keep your hands clean and healthy, but it can also be tough on your jewelry. To protect your engagement ring and other pieces of jewelry when using hand sanitizer, it's best to remove them before applying the product. Hand sanitizer can contain harsh chemicals that can damage certain types of metal and gemstones.

Some metals, such as sterling silver, can become tarnished when exposed to hand sanitizer, while other metals, such as copper, can become corroded. Certain gemstones, such as pearls and opals, can become damaged or discolored when exposed to hand sanitizer, while others, such as diamonds, can become loose in their settings.

APPLYING SKINCARE - When it comes to skincare, it's important to take a few precautions to protect your jewelry from damage. Here are a few tips for caring for your jewelry when applying skincare.

Remove your jewelry, it's a good idea to remove your jewelry before applying skincare products to prevent them from coming into contact with the products. Skincare products can contain harsh chemicals that can damage certain types of metal and gemstones, so it's best to remove your jewelry to avoid any potential damage.

Be careful with lotions and creams, if you're applying lotions or creams to your skin, be sure to avoid getting them on your jewelry. These products can leave a film on your jewelry that can attract dirt and grime, and can also cause certain types of metal to tarnish.

Use caution with perfumes and other scented products, perfumes may can contain alcohol, which can be tough on jewelry. To help protect your jewelry when using these products, it's a good idea to apply them to your pulse points rather than directly on your jewelry.

SWIMMING - When it comes to swimming, it's important to take a few precautions to protect your jewelry from damage. If you have delicate or fragile jewelry, it's generally not a good idea to wear them while swimming. The water and chemicals in pools can be tough on these types of pieces, and can cause them to become damaged or even break.

When chlorine comes into contact with certain types of metal and gemstones, it can cause them to become damaged or discolored. Chlorine can cause sterling silver to tarnish, and can also cause certain types of gemstones, such as pearls and opals, to become damaged.

To help protect your jewelry from damage caused by chlorine, it's a good idea to remove it before swimming and to clean it thoroughly after coming into contact with chlorine.

Make sure to have your ring setting and prongs inspected during your professional jewelry cleaning appointment.
